Following an extensive review of Balsam Family Project, a great deal of prayer, reflection and discussion, the trustees have concluded that they do not feel able to continue the work of the charity.  This has been a very difficult decision for us to reach, not least for those of us who have been with Balsam since its very first days.

It may be that on hearing this news, individuals may feel inspired to come forward to take on the work of Balsam.  We believe that the need for this work is stronger than ever. So many people appear to value the work that Balsam does and could do.  For this reason we do not plan to formally close down the charity until the end of June 2019.  We have asked our relatively new Administrator, Anne Phillips, to continue to work until the end of June so that we can support an orderly wind down of activity, help facilitate the answering of any questions supporters might have, help administer the distribution of any remaining funds in a manner consistent with Charity Commission regulations and provide a stable base should a new way forward emerge.

This has been a hugely difficult decision to reach but the trustees have sought to work through their emotional attachment to Balsam alongside their statutory duties.

If you do have any questions about this then please do refer them in the first instance to Anne Phillips ( so that she can effectively co-ordinate them and ensure you get a suitable reply.
